Leopard Place in Rajasthan -Jawai Bandh or Jawai Dam,Rajasthan

Whenever we think of jeep safari or jungle safari, we think of the place surrounded by dense forest and litigants. And this is absolutely normal thinking because most of the forest in our country is like this. But today we will take you to a place where there are forests, river, and dam too and the most interesting thing here is that 99% of leopards will be seen very easily.

JAWAI DAM/JAWAI BANDH, RAJASTHAN

Jawai Bandh is a dam built across the Jawai River, Located near the Sumerpur town in the Pali District of Rajasthan. It was built by Raja Umaid Singh of Jodhpur, its construction started in 1949 and ended in 1958. It is said that 2 crores 9 lakh was spent in its construction.

Jawai Bandh is one of the largest water reservoirs in western Rajasthan and attracts an array of migratory and non-migratory birds,. Other species include the knob-billed duck and the Indian spot-billed duck,  It is also home to a large variety of fauna, some of which are highly endangered species. the wildlife includes wolf, leopard, sloth bear, hyena, jackal, jungle cat, sambar deer, nilgai or blue bull, chinkara, and hare, and crocodiles bask on the dam shores. It is an exceptional area for leopard sightings and exclusive wildlife and bird watching experiences

There are approx 50 to 60 leopards in Jawai including the cubs right now. The best thing is that due to the absence of poaching so far, the number of leopards is increasing. Moreover, it is very easy to sight these leopards as they are mostly out on the rocks looking for food.  you can see multiple leopards roaming about. You will be surprised to know there isn’t a single instance of attack on a human  If someone considers Jawai unsafe for safari, then there is no place on earth where you can see wildlife safely.

In short words, Jawai is a place where you can feel yourself walking/ driving between leopards and their cute cubs without any fear and can enjoy a fun safari, which is definitely better than any other wild jeep safari.
