PATAL BHUVANESHWAR - MOST MYSTERIOUS AND SPIRITUAL PLACE OF UTTARAKHAND
It is located 160 km away from the famous town of Almora in Kumaon division of Uttarakhand via Sheraghat and is situated in Gangolihat, a frontier town nestled among the mountain plains. Out of which a temple of Shankar Ji is installed inside a large cave. This entire complex has been taken over by the Archaeological Department of India since 2007.
The Patal Bhubaneshwar cave is no surprise. It is 160 meters long and 90 feet deep from the cave entrance. According to the beliefs of Patala Bhubaneswar, it was discovered by Adi Jagat Guru Shankaracharya. There are also Darshan of Kedarnath, Badrinath and Amarnath in Patal Bhubaneswar cave.It’s popularly believed that the holiest cave is the abode of 33 crore Gods and Goddesses, amidst the absolute Himalayan isolation.
It is believed that worshiping in Patal Bhubaneswar gives equal importance to the journey of Dhaam.
This is where Shiva rested when he chose to visit these parts form the celestial heights of His abode in Kailash. it is believed, is connected by an underground route to Mount Kailash. it’s believed that Pandavas, the ‘Mahabharat’ heroes proceeded towards their last journey in the Himalayas after meditating here, in front of Lord Shiva.
It is said that when Lord Shiva had beheaded God Ganesha in anger, later Lord Ganesha was put on the head of an elephant at the behest of Mata Parvatiji, but who is believed to have been separated from the head. Lord Shiva has kept that head in the Patal Bhuvaneshwar cave.
There are four stones installed in these caves as a symbol of the four ages.
One of these stones, which is considered the symbol of Kali Yuga, is slowly rising up. It is believed that the day Kali Yuga's symbol will hit the stone wall, the day Kali Yuga will end.
TheSecond floor of Hades is of Narasimha God.
The Third structure emerged like the trees of Sheshnag on the stones. It is believed that the earth rests on it.
Last, The swan-shaped statue of the swan. This swan of Brahma was injured by Shiva because he tasted the Amrit Kund.

By Air- Pantnagar airport is closest and its 250 km from Patal Bhuvneshwar. it's well connected by road.one can hire a private cab or taxi from the airport.
By Train -
The Nearest railway station of Patal Bhuvaneshwar is Tanakpur situated at a distance of 154kms. Taxi and buses are easily available.
By Road -
These are the places from where you can easily reach by road.
